Park Day Beach Cleanup!

Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, in partnership with American Battlefield Trust and Outer Banks Forever, will host a beach cleanup at Etheridge Point, the park’s sound side beach access in celebration of Park Day!

Volunteers can meet at the Etheridge Point beach at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site at 10 a.m. From Park Headquarters (1401 National Park Drive, Manteo, NC, 27954), turn on Pear Pad Road and follow that one-half mile until the road ends at Etheridge Point. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in a short presentation about the Civil War Battle of Roanoke Island and learn about the nearby location of a former Civil War camp.

Volunteers will help remove litter from the beach at Etheridge Point. As time allows, the group may move to nearby shoreline areas for litter removal. All volunteers are encouraged to wear thick-soled footwear, gloves, and comfortable work clothing. Bring water, snacks, and a bag lunch. Feel free to invite your friends, family members, neighbors, or co-workers to join you! For more information, contact Tom Avery at thomas_avery@nps.gov.
