Partner Event: Fly with the Dare County Radio Control Flyers!

Join members of Dare County Radio Control Flyers, our local radio control model aviation club, for a family-friendly flying event at their field in Manns Harbor on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Local residents of all ages are invited to attend, and any person attending will have an opportunity to fly one of the club’s radio control aircraft! There is no charge to attend or fly at this event, however the club is asking all attendees to bring at least one nonperishable food item or a comparable cash donation per person, all of which will be donated to the Beach Food Pantry to help local residents in need.

Local residents wanting to experience the excitement of flying a radio control model airplane at this event will be able to do so under the supervision of one of the club’s flight instructors. Upon completing their introductory flight, participants will automatically be entered into a no-cost raffle with three complete ready-to-fly model airplane packages. The winners will be selected at the end of the day by an exclusive drawing of only those who participated in the day’s flying. A separate raffle for two radio control airplanes will also be held for those interested in purchasing tickets at $10 each, or three for $20.

The club will also be providing attendees with lunch consisting of grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and beverages at no cost.

The club’s flying field is located at 1521 Link Road in Manns Harbor, and is accessible through the entrance of the Outer Banks Gun Club.
