Please tell us about yourself.
I grew up in Hampton Roads, Virginia, visiting the Outer Banks since I was a baby! I’ve always loved the beach and being outdoors. I am currently the Store Manager at the Wright Brothers National Memorial Gift Shop. I have a blended family with three small boys who love spending time outside, so you can find us at the beach, waterparks, or traveling when I’m not at work!

What do you enjoy most about the Outer Banks?
I enjoy the local restaurants and delicious food that is unique to the Outer Banks and the calm, “slower” months here between the hustle and bustle.
What led you to follow this career path?
Growing up, my family spent endless summers, weekends, and even day trips coming down to the Outer Banks. I have always loved being near the beach and ocean. I moved out to Vancouver, Washington, after college but knew I belonged back near the beach, so I moved back, originally living on Hatteras Island for a few years before making it up to Kill Devil Hills.
What does a typical workday or work week look like for you?
A typical workday can be a little hectic at times. Wright Brothers is a unique store because our stock warehouse is located across the park about a mile away. On a typical day, my assistant and I are busy moving products around in the store, answering visitor questions, ringing up sales, and transferring products from our warehouse.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy most that I am lucky enough to work in a place that I enjoy visiting with people who also enjoy their work. Some of the best moments are getting to meet visitors from all over and connect over shared experiences, places traveled, or common interests.
What is a favorite memory you have from your time working at the Wright Brothers National Memorial Outer Banks Forever store, and/or spending time in our Outer Banks national parks?
My favorite memories include climbing the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in 2019 for the 20th anniversary of the lighthouse move and being able to walk inside and tour the “Candy Bomber” C-17 plane at a few of the First Flight Anniversary events at Wright Brothers National Memorial.
Is there anything else you would like people to know about you, about the Wright Brothers store, or about our Outer Banks national parks?
If you’re in the Outer Banks, please stop into our store at Wright Brothers as well as our other Outer Banks Forever stores and say hi! We love seeing new faces in our little slice of heaven!
