It’s National Park Week, and we’re celebrating by sharing stories from our supporters!

“My husband and his family have gone to Cape Hatteras National Seashore since the 1970s, when — bless my mother-in-law’s soul — they went in tents, then moved up to a travel trailer. We are from a small town north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and it had a very small post office just like Salvo, North Carolina, did. Nancy, my mother-in-law, fell in love with the Salvo Post Office, and every time she would go to the Seashore, everyone got post cards from the Salvo Post Office.  My in-laws have both since passed, but my husband and I have purchased a house in Hatteras Village and return many times a year with our children and grandchildren. We always look for the post office on the way to the island, and it always has wonderful memories of the people who loved this island as much as we do.”
