Artist in Community: Support local and national artists in creating art inspired by our Outer Banks national parks! Cape Hatteras will host two artistic residencies each year, and artists will hold workshops for you to learn new art techniques and to inspire our community.

Project Spotlight: Aviation Trail Through Time
From the first heavier-than-air powered flight to the current pursuit of space exploration, you can help tell the story of the progress that has been made since two daring brothers took flight on the sandy dunes of Kitty Hawk, NC. Your support will install a series of new accessibility-friendly interpretive exhibits along the walkway from the First Flight Boulder to the base of Big Kill Devil Hill at Wright Brothers National Memorial.

Project Spotlight: Adopt A Pony
Description: Legend has it the Ocracoke Banker ponies arrived in the Outer Banks with shipwrecked explorers in the 16th or 17th century, and they’ve called the Ocracoke Island home ever since. While many of these early ponies were claimed by residents, some were left to roam wild. The National Park Service took over their care and maintenance in the 1960s to keep them safe as the island’s human population grew.
Now you can help preserve living history on Ocracoke Island by symbolically adopting a pony! Your support of the ponies – individually or of the herd – will help to pay for their ongoing care and feeding.
When you adopt a pony with a gift of $45 or more, you will receive an adoption certificate and a picture of your pony or the herd to keep. You can also adopt a pony in honor of, in memory of or on behalf of a loved one.
Please note: If you choose to adopt a pony after December 10, we suggest selecting the digital photo and certificate option to receive your gift in time for Christmas.
