Today’s the Day – Our $10k Challenge for Cape Hatteras is ON!
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving, and we want to thank you for your commitment to supporting our Outer Banks national parks.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, and Wright Brothers National Memorial are special places that bring our local community and visitors together to learn, reflect, and create new memories year after year.
As the official nonprofit partner of our Outer Banks national parks, our mission is to protect and enhance these beautiful places and we can’t achieve that without you.
This Giving Tuesday, our goal is to raise $10,000 to support our largest project to date: Pathways to Your National Parks!
Each year, millions of visitors travel to the Outer Banks to visit Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and many make a point to visit the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Considered one of the most iconic lighthouses in the country, the lighthouse site in Buxton, North Carolina, is popular for its beautiful beach and is a top surfing destination on the East Coast.
When families, local children, and surfers come to visit the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, they often take in the sights, sounds, and stories on foot or by bike. Currently, the only way to do this is to brave the main roads alongside vehicular traffic. Phase One of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Pathway will provide a safer alternative: a mile-long, accessible, paved path for walking, running, and cycling from Route 12 to the lighthouse.
Thanks to our friends at REAL Watersports and Carolina Brewery, all gifts given to “Pathways to Your National Parks” this Giving Tuesday will be matched until we reach our $10,000 goal. Which means your donation doubles in impact!
Every gift, regardless of size, will get us one step closer to making this new pathway a reality. Check out our support levels below – you could even see your family or business name on our donor wall at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse!
We can’t thank you enough for being a part of our Outer Banks Forever community and supporting our Outer Banks national parks!
