DESCRIPTION:Outer Banks Forever ( https://obxforever.org/ ), Dare Arts ( https://www.darearts.org/ ), and the Outer Banks Group of the National Park Service ( https://www.nps.gov/index.htm ) have partnered to create and launch a new Artist in Community program that will give local artists the opportunity to share their crafts with the public at a family-friendly Earth Day celebration (April 22) on the grounds of the Bodie Island Lighthouse ( https://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/bils.htm ). The crafts demonstrated as part of the event will serve, through the creativity of the selected artists, to deepen the public’s understanding and appreciation of our Outer Banks national parks. This event is generously supported by Outer Banks Forever donors and grants from the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau ( https://www.outerbanks.org/ ) and the Manteo Rotary Club ( https://www.facebook.com/manteo.rotary.club/ ).\nThis event will provide three selected artists with the opportunity to perform their craft in a beautiful national park setting and to engage with and inspire local community members and park visitors of all ages. Artists will have the opportunity to create a or works en plein air that promote an understanding of the need to protect and enhance our Outer Banks national parks for future generations.\n\nDate: Saturday, April 22, 2023 (Earth Day)\nTime: Event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with three 90-minute artist demos during that time: 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m., 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.-4:30 p.m.\nLocation: Bodie Island Lighthouse grounds\n\nRun of show:\n\nArtist Session 1: Kate Leal, 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.\nArtist Session 2: Gray Michael Parsons, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.\nArtist Session 3: Karyn Renea Soto, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.\n\n
